The naming ceremony of LNG floating storage regasification unit „Independence“
On the 19th of February the official naming ceremony of LNG floating storage regasification unit destined for Lithuania was held at the shipbuilding yard „Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd“ operating in Ulsan Seaport of South Korea. The President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė was the „godmother“ of FSRU. The President accentuated that this success would induce Lithuania and Europe to continue the development of diversified, competitive and environmentally friendly energetics. “The name of the unit „ Independence“ symbolises the extreme significance of this vessel to our country. One vessel is able to change the future of energetics of the whole country and the factual impact of the vessel will be as effective as her appearance is. The total LNG terminal project will be implemented within the period of the nearest 10 months. This means that we have no time to relax, we must remain rallied and make every effort to reach our goal “ – emphasised in his speech Rokas Masiulis, Director General of SC „ Klaipedos nafta“, the company implementing LNG project.
